ROYAL OAK EAGLES BAR CIRCA. 1950 |
THIS IS THE EARLIEST PHOTO WE HAVE OF THE LEGENDARY "HORSESHOE" BAR. AS YOU CAN SEE, IT WAS BEFORE THE ADDITION
WAS PUT ON. IT WAS TAKEN FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF WHERE THE POOL TABLE NOW SITS. AFTER STUDYING THE PHOTO AND DOING SOME
RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I CAN TELL FROM THE "CRUSADE FOR FREEDOM" POSTER AND THE ANCIENT TELEVISION, THAT IT WOULD
HAVE BEEN TAKEN DURING THE COLD WAR ERA OF THE 1950'S. "CRUSADE FOR FREEDOM" WAS A CAMPAIGN
TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE OF THE "ENEMY" IN PEACE TIME AFTER WORLD WAR II. THE PHRASE WAS FIRST USED BY HARRY TRUMAN 1950.
IF YOU RECOGNISE THE BARTENDER OR KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PHOTO, PLEASE LET US KNOW.
